Features of the SSC Constable GD

  • The Open-Competitive examination will be conducted for recruitment to the post of Constable (GD) in BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA and SSF and Rifleman in Assam Rifles.
  • The recruitment process will consist of Physical Standards Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Written Examination and Medical Examination.
  • To apply for the exam, the candidates must have passed their matriculation or Xth class from a recognized board/university.
  • The SSC Constable GD 2016 Written Examination will be conducted in both online and offline mode.
  • Only candidates qualifying in Physical Standards Test and Physical Efficiency Test will be called for the Written Examination (online/offline). Based on performance in the Written Examination, candidates will be shortlisted for Medical Examination in a ratio as may be decided by the Commission.
  • After conduct of RME/DME, the Commission will process and declare the final list of selected candidates state-wise without making Force allocation. Based on such merit list declared by SSC, the MHA/ CRPF will make force allocation, etc. and declare the result.

SSC Constable GD Eligibility Criteria

Nationality/Citizenship: A candidate must be a citizen of India

Age Limit: The candidates applying for the post should be 18-23 years.

Educational Qualification: The candidates should have passed matriculation or Xth class pass from a recognized board/university.

SSC Constable GD Exam Pattern 

  • The written exam will be held off-line. Candidates will be given the OMR sheets to mark the answers by encircling them. The exam may also be conducted online.
  • It is an objective – based tests which implies there shall be multiple choice questions to choose from
  • There will be 04 options (A, B, C, D) for a particular question out of which candidates will have to mark one correct option
  • The exam will consist of one objective type paper containing 100 questions carrying 100 marks
  • Total time allotted for the exam is 02:00 hours (120 minutes)
  • There will be four tests namely: General Knowledge and Awareness, English/ Hindi, Elementary Mathematics and General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • Questions to be asked in the above tests/sections will be of Matriculation level
  • The On-Line Examination will be in English & Hindi only. Off-line Examination will be in English, Hindi and other Regional Languages.

Detailed syllabus for the SSC Constable GD Exam

1.  General Knowledge and General Awareness: Questions in this section will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

2.     English/Hindi: Candidates ability to understand basic English/ Hindi, his basic comprehension would be tested

3.  Elementary Mathematics: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.

4.  General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analytical aptitude and ability to observe and distinguish patterns will be tested through questions principally of non-verbal type. This component may include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, etc.
