NTSE Exam - National Talent Search Examination acronym as NTSE is taken by the NCERT (since 1963) with a purpose to identify talented students and nurture their talent in one or more specialized areas. This year NCERT will conduct NTSE for students of class X only.

  • On the basis of the Test 1000 scholorships will be awarded. The amount of scholarship will be as follows:
  • Scholarship of Rs. 1250/- per month for class XI and XII.
  • Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for Under-graduate and Post-graduate classes.
  • Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D be fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

 

NTSE Eligibility

Educational Qualification:

Students of Class X studying in recognized schools who have got 61% marks (5% relexation for reserved category) in class IX are eligible to appear for the respective Class X Stage I examination conducted by the States/UTs in which the schools are located. However there will be no domicile restriction.

Note: Students registered under open Distance Learning will also be eligible for scholarship provided the student is below the age of 18 years.

 

NTSE Syllabus

National Talent Search Examination NCERT consists of basic syllabus upto X class along with questions related to analytical reasoning and metal aptitude.

 

NTSE Pattern 

This two state exam will consists of objective type multiple choice type questions consisting of 1 mark each as given below:

Merit List: The minimum qualifying marks in each paper will be 40% for General Category and 32% for Reserved Category students. Language comprehension test will be qualifying in nature and marks will not be added for deciding final merit of the candidate. Top ten student from amongst the eligible candidates who qualify stage-1 will be recommended to appear in stage -II examination conducted by NCERT in May.

3. Interview : Candidates who qualify the written examination at the National Level will be invited for interview.

 

How to apply for the NTSE Exam?

Aspitnats can contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form. However, application form can be downloaded from NCERT website i.e. http://www.ncert.nic.in

The completed application form duly signed by Principal of the school should be submitted to the LO/ concerned district official of the State before the last date.

Note: All correspondence relating to application forms should be addressed to the State Liaison Officers (LOs) whose addresses are given at the end/Website.

 

NTSE Exam Fee

As far as fee charged is concerned there is no fee taken by NCERT for state- II however States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination.

Therefore it is prudent to confirm the fees and mode of payment from the respective State Liaison Officer  before submitting the application form for stage-I examination  in the respective year.

 

NTSE Test Selection Process

There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. 

For Stage-I, selection will be done by states/UTs through a written examination. Students who qualify Stage I will be eligible to appear for Stage II examination conducted by NCERT

The States/UTs will also conduct the selection test for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme along with the Stage-I written examination for NTS.

Note: Indian Students Studying Abroad can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure for class X which is available on the NCERT website. 

Aspirants can fill up relevant information in the Application Form available on the NCERT website and send to the designated authority along with a Xerox/photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination latest by March 31st of the respective year.

Reservation:

15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged group of students

State Quotas:

Each State/Union Territory has been allotted a quota to recommend a specific number of candidates for the Stage II examination, the details of which will be made available on NCERT website. However, there will be no State/Union Territory Quota for the final award of scholarship after the Stage II examination.

Reservation for SC, ST and physically challenged will be as per central government notifications.
