Bus Conductor is a person who has a range of responsibilities, which include collecting fares, issuing tickets, helping passengers with baggage, advising on destinations and ensuring the safety of passengers. Note (i) 33% of the above vacancies in each category will be reserved for women candidates. In case sufficient eligible candidates are not found available for appointment then the unfilled vacancies will be filled up from male candidates of respective category on the basis of merit.

Note (ii) In case sufficient eligible candidates are not found in Ex-Servicemen category for appointment then the unfilled vacancies will be filled up from candidates of respective category on the basis of merit.

Note (iii) It should be noted that backlog vacancies will be cleared first and the selection list against backlog posts shall be published separately.

1. Physical Requirement for Physically Handicapped Persons - The persons with not less than 40% disability (based on disability certificate issued by the competent authority) and holding valid conductor licence should apply against the vacancies reserved for this category. The vacancies of physically handicapped persons will be adjusted against the category to which they belong.

2. Processing Fee (non-refundable) – it is For General and OBC candidates Rs. 400 and for SC and Ex-Servicemen candidates Rs. 200; but it may vary from place to place. No processing fee will be charged from physically handicapped persons. Processing fee will be deposited in any branch of State Bank of India through printed Challan online.

How to become Bus Conductor?

Candidates have to follow below given steps for becoming a Bus Conductor-

Step 1

After passing their 12th class candidates have to wait for an advertisement regarding posts by the states. After that eligible candidates can apply for the post.

Step 2

All Ex-servicemen who fulfil eligibility criteria will be called for written test.

Written Test - After scrutiny, the eligible candidates on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in 10+2, examination will be short listed in the ratio of 01:20 of the vacancies in each category for the written test. In case there are more than one candidate at the cut-off point then all such candidates having same cut-off marks will be called for the written test. Tentatively the written test will be held after that and information in this regard will be made available on the website at least 2 weeks in advance.

Syllabus for Written Test – The written test (objective type having multiple choice answers) will be based on-

(i) Numerical Ability

(ii) General Knowledge & General Behaviour

(iii) Knowledge of Traffic rules and First Aid etc. 

(iv) There will be no negative marking.

Duration of Written Test - The duration of written test will be of 02 hours.

Final Selection - The final selection will be made on the basis of the merit in the written test. In case two or more candidates secure equal marks at cut off point, the candidate older in age, will be considered for selection. There will be no interview. Waiting lists will also be prepared.

Step 3

General Instructions-

Read instructions properly before filling the online application given below-

  • Call letters for Written Test should be downloaded from the website by the candidate when he/she will be asked to do so. No separate call letter will be issued. Candidate must give his/her mobile number and e-mail address in the application format for further communication.
  • The detailed guidelines for applying online application, deposit of fee etc. are available on the official website of concerned state. The format of application and Challan Form for fee deposit is also available there.
  • Online submission/registration of application form on the website will start on as per the date given there for all purposes. The candidate should register his/her name one day before the closing date and submit the detail of fee deposited on or before the above closing date and time to avoid rejection of application.
  • One candidate should submit only one application duly filled in all respect. Incomplete application in any manner will be rejected straightway without assigning any reason. No off line application will be entertained.
  • The claim of reservation of SC will be accepted from all India basis, whereas in the case of OBC the reservation will be extended to those castes which are included in Central list for U.T. and states Those who possess Backward Class certificate only will have to produce the Other Backward Class Certificate on or before the test.
  • The appointment for the posts will be given after the successful verification of documents, character & antecedents and medical examination etc. In case any document found false/fake/incomplete, his/her candidature shall stand cancelled.
  • The candidate must submit scanned recent passport size photograph and own signature with online application.
  • In case of any dispute the decision of the Director Transport, Union Territory/State, will be the final and any kind of legal complication, the jurisdiction will be at concerned UT/State.
